A little bit about India...
The illusion of India Black was started in 1997 in Terre Haute, Indiana. At the age of 21 I stepped into my first gay bar R-Place. It was an eye opening experience to say the least, but that night happened to be open stage. I watched a show, and saw EVA LAS VEGAS and thought "if he can do that, so can I". It looked fun, and the entertainers were all well known. So I approached their show director and asked for help. Mercedes Martin, the mother of all the children in Terre Haute, was more than happy to show me the ropes. And under her supervision I caught the drag bug, and started doing shows every open stage night that I could find. I soon entered my first pageant, Miss Indiana State University with Mercedes help and support winning my first crown (it was a plastic sparkle pretty princess crown). I was hooked. After a few years in Terre Haute, I moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to learn more of my craft and work at Club Basix. During my four years in Iowa, I worked with some of the best in the business and really grew as an entertainer. In 2002 I returned to Indiana to be closer to family and to grow again as an entertainer. In 2004 I achieved my dream of becoming Miss Gay Indiana. Currently I travel across the midwest performing.
